Biography[]

Jibril Adukwu was Nigerian and lived in Los Angeles. He had one sister, whose name was never given. In August of 2011, he was called into battle after a strange extraterrestrial species invaded Earth for it's resources. He was fighting alongside Michael Nantz and William Martinez. Their platoon's mission was to rescue five civilians form an LAPD police station before the United States Air Force bombed the location in hopes of defeating alien ground forces. Upon arriving there, the injured members of the platoon were loaded onto a helicopter, which Nantz was horrified to find leaving without the civilians, whom he thought were traveling to safety in the helicopter as well. The helicopter was blown up by alien aircraft upon takeoff, and the platoon was forced to move on without them. Soon after hot wiring a bus, the platoon had to stop after being attacked by alien forces and rappell the civilians off of the side of the freeway. The Marines fought the forces. When one alien threatened Adukwu's life by attempting to shoot him (which he failed to do), one of the civilians (named Joe Rincon) stepped in and attacked the alien, only to be shot and fatally wounded. Soon after, despite being forced to leave his pregnant wife behind by doing so, Martinez sacrificed himself to destroy some of the incoming alien forces. The remainder of the platoon went to shelter and waited for the air strike to happen. When nothing happened, the platoon moved on to the FOB to find it in flames, the aliens having destroyed it. After arriving, Joe unfortunately died, leaving behind his son, Hector. The Marines then took the remaining civilians to a helicopter and left in it, leaving to go to the extraction point. After Nantz left the helicopter to deal with the aliens, the rest of the squad followed and fought the aliens. Adukwu and the the remaining squad members were escorted to the Mojave Desert, where, despite military officials' insisting that they rest, they rejoined the battle to help the other cities defeat the invaders.

Trivia[]

  • Adukwu is famous for his line, "Shit, I'd rather be in Afghanistan" (which he says upon seeing the city of Los Angeles in such chaos during the invasion).
  • While Adukwu is from Nigeria, his portrayer, Adetokumboh M'Cormack was born in Sierra Leone. M'Cormack lived in Nigeria later on in his life. He now lives in Los Angeles, the same city that his character resided in.
  • Adukwu's sister was unnamed in the film.
