CNN (the Cable News Network) is a real-life cable-news network that first aired in 1980 in the United States. It is sometimes referred to as CNN/U.S. to distinguish it from its international counterpart, CNN International. It was featured in the 2011 film Battle: Los Angeles and featured several reporters giving updates to curious civilians prior to and during the Invasion of Earth. At one point in the film, a Marine Sergeant Major by the name of Glenn Devor delivered a report to the United States on the current status of the war and the Invasion of Earth. Throughout the course of the film, several news reports were seen on

CNN's logo.

televisions giving updates on the invasion. One ended up being vital in the true cause for the aliens' arrival after a reporter said that the strange visitors may have been attacking Earth for its resources, specifically water (which they supposedly used as fuel for their aircraft).

In real life, CNN also filmed Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez talking about the film and answering questions from fans.
